Celebrating the great news!
We received some pretty awesome news for Mama today. She has been awarded a subsidy! This means that her rent on her brand new gorgeous apartment is going to drop by about a hundred and forty bucks! This means that she is paying the same amount for her incredible apartment as she was paying for the moldy, dark, basement apartment that she has been living in for the last eight years! To...

Mama gets a new apartment
We decided that Mama needed a better place to live back in early 2009 and put her on the wait list for an incredible retirement community close to our house. Since she doesn’t have a car and she walks everywhere, we wanted a place for her that was convenient. And she has a thousand things nearby for her to have easy access to the simple luxuries in life: a laundromat, a church, a library,...

What we did all weekend
It seems all we do around here lately is sleep. And it’s pretty marvelous. Don’t take my word, take theirs: You know they’re tired when they let down their guard and cuddle with each other like little babies.

Hug your mailman
I found some old pictures of when I was a mailman. My goodness, I’m glad I no longer work there. It sure took a lot out of me working six days a week, twelve hours a day.

Happy Gotcha Day, Jasmine!
We adopted our little girl two years ago today. It was a day not unlike today, wet with snow and rain. We hoped Sam and Jazzy would get along and were lucky that they were instant buddies. She’s been the sweetest pup, and oh so smart. We love you little Meanie!

Puppy Super Bowl
We had our own little Super Bowl in the backyard this morning. These puppies are so funny when they cart around that oversized red ball in their mouth, prancing and galloping across the yard. Sam, of course, did not play ball and instead yelped the entire time. Always the queen, he decided instead to be a cheerleader for this game. And now we’re all cozy on the couch...

We can no longer talk
I can’t even count how many times a day Sean says “Do you have the ree-mote?” So I told him if he asks me that one more time, especially when he actually has the remote in.his.hand, he owes me a back scratch. Just now, I said, “It’s cold in here, is the heat on?” And of course he quickly responded in a mocking tone, “If you ask me that again, you owe...

Sean and Carrie go running at Rockwell Park
They both love to run. They were happy to get out and ran about two miles. I was happy to photograph them. These pictures Carrie took of us look cute enough, but if you look closely, you’ll see my sweet husband wiping his nose on my favorite hat. The little shit. It was really cold, about 40 degrees or so, and Carrie said it loosened her lungs. She’s not used to running in...

Family dinner
Aunt Sandy and Uncle Tom had us all over for a wonderful dinner last night. We laughed and hugged and cried and laughed. It feels so nice to have Carrie back at the family dinners. PS. How adorable is my cousin Marc in his police uniform!

My sister is here for the week!
Carrie-Lynn drove up from North Carolina to visit. It’s been great having her. We’re getting a lot of quality sister time in together. How wonderful it feels to have her here!

Gavin's 7th birthday party!!
My brother-in-law turned seven on the 14th and we celebrated with a party at a children’s museum. And my nephew Evan had his first taste of pizza! A good time was had by all… but I’m pretty sure some outlaws came to the party: Happy birthday, Gavinboy!

Kidlets
We got together to watch old home movies. My niece and nephews are little hams. I finally figured out how to hook up Wifi in my house so I photo edited these AND posted them right from my new Verizon Wireless netbook while sitting on the couch. It doesn’t get any better than this. Except that Sean somehow thinks that I bought this netbook for him and keeps giving me permission to...

Packrat
Sean is cleaning his closet out this morning. He’s got a bazillion sports cards and he’s having a blast looking through them all. He hasn’t found any skeletons in his closet yet, but he did find a button from presidential elections past:

Our first anniversary
When Sean asked me what I wanted for our anniversary, I asked him if we could go ice skating in the backyard and take pictures. It was his idea to wear our wedding clothes. We threw our wedding together in a week. I paid $25 for my dress, $25 for my boots, inherited a FANTASTIC coat from Binky, and our brother-in-law was our preacher man. My father-in-law walked me down the aisle, my best...

We've built a backyard ice skating rink
We were watching the Winter Classic (go Bruins!) and decided to build our own rink. My car is dying in the shop until Monday, so we’ve been staying close to home. And the pipes have frozen a few times, but it’s nothing a hair dryer can’t fix. We’re both pumped that the temperatures are going to be below freezing all week. I’d like to make an addendum to the...

With our fingers hoarding wood splinters
I love our house. It’s spacious, and homey. I feel like we have too much space most of the time, too many rooms that I don’t hang out in. I am constantly rearranging and painting and redecorating and it feels like the projects are unending. We’ve lived in our house for two years and five days, and I’ve DESPISED the wood paneling in our upstairs spare room for two...

A very Malone Christmas
When we got to my Father-in-Law’s house we met everyone in the basement. Sean found this headband somewhere between the car and the downstairs couch and suddenly I am married to Bruce Springsteen. Our family is FUN. We have a great time when we’re together. Because not only are we related, but we actually like each other! Imagine that? But seriously, how can you not like these...

Christmas Eve/Morning with Mama
We are a Christmas-lovin’ bunch here in the Malone household, and no one loves Christmas more than my mother. She has been staying overnight with us for the past few Christmases and we always have a great time together. Here are our adventures in photos: Mama always buys the pups presents Sean is breaking in his new running shoes Here is us singing Silent Night. For some reason I...

Wisdom on wisdom teeth removal
My tongue is wandering. I haven’t let it get as far as actually touching the stitches in my gums, but it knows they’re there and wants a feel. My mouth feels fragile and at any minute I am afraid I am going to tear something or swallow a blood clot. I don’t hurt as much as I assumed when my dentist prescribed three separate drugs, Vicodin among them. I’ve been happily...
